EXAMINATIONS
No, there is no other way.
To become a pilot in India, first you must pass the all the DGCA examinations.

The DGCA examinations consist of the following subjects :-
-
Navigation
-
Meteorology
-
Regulations (hope your memory is good)
-
Technical (if you end up doing your flight training in India)

To even give these examinations in the first place, you will need a "Computer number."
Computer number is a permanent and unique number assigned to you that will allow you to enroll for the examinations. It is also be your identity for all further documentation.

STEP 1:
Get a computer number from the Pariksha website.

GENERAL CHECKLIST
-
Create your Pariksha account
-
Fill in the required information
-
Scan and upload documents (please make sure they are attested as needed)
-
*they have a 100 mb upload limit*. For help with that go to - ilovepdf.com
-
-
After submitting the application, use the Indian postage to speed post a copy of your documents within 10 days of clicking submit on the website.

WING TIPS!
-
Follow their instructions for each step with utmost precision to minimize chance of application rejection.
-
Keep your scores, documents, scans, copies handy.
-
Find a gazetted officer for their stamp and signatures
-
Do not expect prompt replies and accurate answers to your doubts, they will mostly just direct you to their instruction manual.
-
I hope you have given your physics and math examinations.
-
You could get rejected for many reasons, the following are a few examples -
-
Low quality scans
-
Not mentioning if you have studied in an international board
-
Inaccurate photo size
-
Wrong ink color
-
Wrong document
-

Average time taken for the whole process - 2- 6 months. Be patient, but tackle it head on.

STEP 2:
THE EXAMINATIONS!

Apply for the examinations.
This DGCA website has a list of recommended books to prepare from for the examination.

I recommend joining coaching, but if your concepts and study hours are fairly strong, then it can all be done from the comfort of your home.

These examinations happen every 3 months, and I think with a little extra hard work its possible to prepare for them in a quarter of a year.

Take time out every alternate day to check for uploaded examination dates on the Pariksha website.

You will most probably get your preferred city for the exam, but expect to be travelling end moment. Unfortunately for you, we are not a travel agency.

WING TIPS!
-
Its okay to not give all three examinations at once (unless time is of essence)
-
Practice papers
-
You will need a 70/100 or above to pass, and once you pass, just let go of the marks. You passed. That is all that matters
-
Remember to get your admit card

STEP 3:
Celebrate.
